Vision, Purpose & DNA

The primary call on our church is and will always be the gospel mandate to call all people to be reconciled to God through faith in Jesus and to live the rest of their lives for His glory. In addition to this, we also believe that the prophetic call on our church is to urge those have been reconciled to God, to also be reconciled to one another thus ushering in God’s kingdom here on earth.

Reconciled to God through Jesus, we love all people,

advancing God’s kingdom on the earth.

Our core purpose statements define who we are, and also what God has called us to give ourselves joyfully to.

1) God first & God-reliant
We are worshipers; therefore God being glorified is our priority in all things. We are reliant on the enabling power of the Holy Spirit because we are convinced that, apart from God, we can do nothing of eternal significance. We believe that personal encounters with God are crucial for life transformation and catalytic in people being activated in serving God.

2) On Mission
We exist not just to gather but to mobilise our people to go for God into every sphere of life on God’s mission. There is a call on our church to pioneer ground-breaking acts that will fulfil the great commission both to go into all the world making disciples of all nations & to advance God’s kingdom rule and reign on the earth.

3) Unity & Reconciliation
In a broken and divided country, we reconcile people to Christ then also to one another. We are a non-racial, multi-cultural and class-crossing community, meaningfully involved in each other’s lives for the sake of the purposes of Jesus Christ.

4) Space for Release
We value each person and therefore create space to identify and develop each person’s gifts, embracing every diversity God has given, thereby releasing all people to step into the fullness of their God-given destinies.

5) Shelter & Refuge
Like a sheltering tree, planted by the streams of living water, we draw life from God in order to protect, nurture and sustain others. We defend the cause of the weak, the poor and the needy and we stand firm against injustice.

Our DNA is who we are as RecRoad Church people. This DNA shapes the personality and culture of the church and should be encountered as people interact with leaders, staff, volunteers and members of our church.

1) Passion
We have a passion to grow in the knowledge and love of God, to delight in Him as we serve His purposes in spreading the Gospel, planting churches and advancing His Kingdom on earth.

2) Radical Love
Having received the radical love of our King, we now love all people with a radical love that breaks through all the barriers of age, race, class, culture and gender.

3) Trust in God
We trust God explicitly in all things. Because God is loving and God is sovereign over all things , we live and serve knowing that we have nothing to fear in life or as we break new ground for his Kingdom advance.

4) Devoted
We value a personal relationship with Jesus above all else and so inspire all people to cultivate life-giving relationship with Jesus. A devoted life includes worship, reading, believing and obeying the authoritative word of God, living holy lives, following the promptings of the Holy Spirit and growing in listening and petitionary prayer.

5) Multiply
As dedicated followers of Christ, we have been called to be those who multiply! We are those who pass on to others, that which we have received in Christ having ourselves learnt from others. To multiply disciples is our Lord’s mandate to every believer. More than this, as a church we believe God has called us to multiply by being a church that plants churches that will plant churches – thus fulfilling Jesus mandate to multiply.

6) Faithful and Relevant
We strive to be faithful to the Gospel while being relevant to the communities we are serving.
